Track

21.1 km sightseeing through the city on the Rhine and Moselle

That's our very scenic track! It is measured and approved according to international and German rules.

All competitions start and finish in the Oberwerth stadium. You do the last 350 m in the oval in front of a big audience.

On your way you pass numerous famous sights: Electoral Palace, City Theatre, the home of the sparkling wine makers “Deinhard”, old town squares and fountains,  memorial "Deutsches Eck" at the confluence of Rhine and Moselle, Basilica of St. Kastor, the residential tower "Deutscher Kaiser", the Old Castle and Moselle reservoir with lock and harbor.

The route is mostly flat (except for the bridge ramps - profile here). You pass the historic Balduin bridge (an arch bridge built from 1342) over the river Moselle. From here, you have a wonderful panoramic view of the old town and the Ehrenbreitstein fortress – the masterpiece of Prussia one hundred meters above the Rhine. A cable car connects the city with the fortress. Pictures from the track here.

The circuit is 21.1 km long. As a member of the Sparkasse Marathon, you run it twice. The good thing about it: You can also finish after one lap and receive an official Lotto Half Marathon rating. As 10 km runner/walker you short the route in the city (orange line in map).
