All competitions start and finish in the Oberwerth stadium. You are leaving the oval through the marathon gate and finish with a final lap in the stadium.

A very scenic track, flat and fast, on closed roads, wide waterfront promenades on the Rhine and Moselle, also over two bridges. Approved by DLV as “International Running Competition”. The track leads you through Koblenz city and the historic old town, around the famous monument “Deutsches Eck”. On the way you pass numerous sights such as Electoral Palace, City Theatre, the home of the sparkling wine makers “Deinhard”, Basilica of St. Kastor, the residential tower "Deutscher Kaiser", the Old Castle, the Balduin Bridge and Moselle reservoir with lock and harbor.

The circuit is 21.1 km long. As a member of the Sparkasse Marathon, you run it twice. The good thing about it: You can also finish after one lap and receive an official Lotto Half Marathon rating. The 10 km Run or Walking/Nordic Walking will be held on parts of the marathon track.

Next to the Oberwerth stadium is the CGM Arena. That’s where the Running Expo takes place. On the race day you can safely deposit your bag here, using changing rooms, showers and toilets. A massage service will also be available on the day in the arena.

The sports facilities in the Koblenz Oberwerth Sports Park are signposted. A large cark park is located beside the arena. Public transport is available. On the race day shuttle buses will be provided free from the main train station and a P+R car park. A reservation can be made. 

All participants of the Koblenz Sparkasse Marathon will receive a medal and certificate.

The first three men and the first three women (separate classification) in the Sparkasse Marathon, the Lotto Half Marathon and 10 km Run will also receive a special gift. Likewise, the first three finishing teams will be awarded.

You can register securely in our online portal of mika:timing. You can make a single registration or multiple registration (from 5 runners).

A late registration is acceptable until 12. September 2021 at the Running Expo.

You will receive a confirmation of registration immediately after the online registration by e-mail (please check your spam file!). You must present this confirmation when collecting your number bid at the Running Expo. Alternatively, we accept proof of the paid entry fee (your bank statement) plus ID.

Timekeeping is done exclusively with the ChampionChip (net time measurement). Please note: You cannot participate without chip!

Please choose when registering if you own a chip, rent a ChampionChip (6.00 €) or buy (31.00 €). If you decide to buy the chip, the chip will be sent to the specified address within 14 days. If you decide on the chip rental, you will receive the chip with the starting documents at the Marathon Fair and must hand it over to the chip return undamaged on 12. September 2021 until 4:00pm. If you do not give it back and do not send it back to our service provider mika:timing within 14 days after the event, the chip is considered purchased. mika:timing will deduct 25 € from your account or credit card. For the smooth running and the punctual re-opening of the roads, the Sparkasse Marathon and Team Marathon has a time limit of 6 hours. Individual runners who need more than 2:30 h for the first lap will be eliminated from the race. You will receive an official Lotto Half Marathon rating.

In the main competitions we offer professional experienced trainers – so called pace makers – to finish in "desired time".

Every 4-5 kilometers stations are provided. Water and isotonic sports drink will be available at each station, plus cola and bananas at selected stations. More water sources on the way. Own beverages can be handed in until 8.30am on race day at the CGM Arena. For three stations in the marathon (km 11, 22 and 33) and one station in the half marathon (km 11).

Toilets are also provided on the track.

After the finish line there will be an extensive sports buffet. Here you will find a wide selection of drinks and snacks. See service package.

A high-quality functional shirt with Koblenz motive can be booked with the online registration for 17.50 €. You will receive it with your starting documents at the Marathon Fair.

Limited number of finisher shirts are also sold at the Running Expo. The price is 20 €.

You cannot start? You can make a change of participants online until 26. August 2021. To do this, log in to your user account at mika:timing and click on the option "transfer start position". (If you do not have an account with mika:timing, you can create it later and link it with your registration.) The new runner will receive a voucher code via e-mail. For a processing fee of 10 € he can finalize the change.

Additional services booked by you, such as ChampionChip or finisher shirt, cannot be transferred to a new applicant and cannot be refunded. The finisher shirt can be collected at the Running Expo.

A rebooking to another event is possible free of charge at the Running Expo and in advance by e-mail to eventservice [at] mikatiming.de (please enclose the confirmation of registration). Please note: No reimbursement of the entry fee when changing to a shorter distance, extra charge when changing to a longer distance.

Only in the 42.2 km Sparkasse Marathon a cancellation is accepted for health reasons. Please contact us by 21. September 2021 with a medical certificate by mail or letter, go to “Impressum”.

Your registration for 2021 will then be cancelled and you will receive a free kick-off voucher for the Koblenz Sparkasse Marathon 2021, minus 20 € processing fee. The entry fee is nonrefundable. We will send you a voucher code for the online registration 2022 in February 2022. The coupon code is not transferable to other persons.

Booked additional services such as ChampionChip or attendant shirts are only valid for the originally booked year. You can collect up the finisher shirt at the event weekend at the Marathon Fair. See also our terms and conditions.
